Biblical Counseling and Training Ministries (BCTM) believes that God’s Word grants keen insight into the transformational impact Jesus brings to our lives. He ushers in a kingdom of righteousness and peace, yet pain and suffering on this side of eternity are very real. As a biblical counseling ministry, we help hurting people by providing counsel in accordance with God’s Word. To the glory of Jesus Christ, we have seen:
- Dozens of marriages restored
- Chains of addiction broken
- Estranged families reconciled
- Suicidal ideation destroyed
- Despair of depression lifted
- Strongholds of anxiety decimated
- Pain of abuse heard.
If you are in need of help and hope, our biblically-trained male and female counselors would consider it a privilege to walk with you through any type of pain and suffering. Counseling for individuals, couples, and families is available through flexible scheduling and quick response.
As the Lord grows and develops this ministry, we will continue to meet with individuals, married couples and families, but we also sense a calling to work with church leaders and lay people to encourage wise conversations in the many local congregations that we serve. As of 2016, we’ve met with hundreds of families from almost 60 different churches. Through the relationships we have developed with these churches, some of the questions we hear include:
- How can we help members who are hurting?
- How can our small group leaders guide couples in conflict?
- How do we embrace those struggling with grief and loss when we don’t know what to say?
- How can we help members battling addiction?
- How can our pastors ensure members are loved well while juggling time constraints?
In response to these common questions, we have developed Roundtable Counseling to come alongside and help the local body of Christ care well for one another. Over the last eight years, I’ve seen many consistent themes that plague God’s people even though the circumstances are undoubtedly different. To help bring hope to these challenges, I am writing a weekly blog offering life-changing truths. As you follow us over the next year, we would consider it a privilege to further expound on and explain where, why and how these same themes continue to unfold in God’s grand story of redemption in which we find ourselves! As we continue to meet with people at our home and affiliate offices in various cities, we also desire to share with churches and businesses the same grace and mercy that the Lord has first shown us. We do this through interactive discussions in a relaxed, comfortable atmosphere . A few examples include:
- Conflict resolution in relationships
- Struggling through anxiety and depression
- Identifying wants vs. needs
- Battling addiction
- Christ-centered parenting
- Dealing with pain and suffering
The RC blog lays the foundation of biblical truth for life’s challenges, and interactive discussions focus on applying those truths in personal and practical ways. We pray you will be encouraged by the RC blog, and please contact us at 601-709-8254 or firstname.lastname@example.org if you would like to bring RC group sessions to your church or business. Stay tuned … the first RC blog will shock you!
The start of a new year gives us the sense of a fresh start, a new beginning, and new opportunities. As God proves by His Word and His deeds, new mercies abound for the new year.
“Through the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness. The Lord is my portion, says my soul, therefore I hope in Him! The Lord is good to those who wait for Him, to the soul who seeks Him. It is good that one should hope and wait quietly for the salvation of the Lord.” – Lamentations 3:22-26
As BCTM begins a new year, we are both excited and humbled by the mercies our God appears to pour out on this ministry. Opportunities for growth appear on the horizon, and we believe God’s great faithfulness will be on display as He reaches more hurting people with the gospel of grace offered in Christ. Specifically, we see growth in our ability to serve the needs of those seeking help. In January, female counselor Leigh Georgen will join the BCTM home office located in Ridgeland, MS. With a Master of Arts in Counseling and over ten years of experience in ministry and early childhood education, Leigh’s passion for gospel-centered counseling will be directed primarily toward serving women of all ages, including children, teens and young adults. BCTM has also brought Ginger Robbins on board as Director of Operations and Ministry Advancement. Ginger earned a Ph.D. in Training and Development and has seven years of experience in Christian ministry/non-profit work, as well as 18 years of higher education experience. At BCTM, she focuses on daily ministry operations that help us serve individuals and partner with churches to care for and shepherd God’s people. She is currently pursuing a certificate in biblical counseling through the Christian Counseling and Educational Foundation.
Not only has God provided growth opportunity in the Jackson Metro area, but discussions are underway to expand BCTM services to other areas in Mississippi such as Starkville and Oxford, with more cities to follow as the Lord leads. In the first half of 2017, BCTM plans to open an affiliate office in Shreveport, LA, under the leadership of David Elston. David brings both educational and practical ministry experience to BCTM-Shreveport. He earned a Master of Divinity in 2014 and has served several churches in the Shreveport area through preaching and shepherding. For the past year, David has been training with BCTM’s executive director Chase Maxey to offer wise biblical counsel. David has a passion for reaching hurting people with the hope of the gospel of Jesus Christ, as well as for equipping church leaders to provide wise counsel and develop even deeper relationships within the local body of Christ.
In 2017, BCTM unveils Roundtable Counseling – an innovative approach through which God can transform hearts and lives. Based in part on 2 Corinthians 1:4, Roundtable Counseling is designed to provide individual believers with counsel that is truly helpful.
“[God] comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.” – 2 Corinthians 1:4
To that end, Chase Maxey will write a weekly blog based on the most common struggles he has encountered while counseling others for the past eight years. Any one of these topics can be further explored and unpacked in a group setting. Pastors, deacons, elders, small group leaders, and other interested church members can experience an interactive session designed to apply truth personally and corporately. Sessions can be tailored to fit the particular needs of each church. BCTM will introduce Roundtable Counseling in more detail next week!
We here at BCTM know the Lord is our portion, and therefore we hope in Him. Yet we also know God graciously works through His children to carry out His Kingdom work. We humbly ask you to pray for this ministry – and to support us financially if the Lord leads. Please click here to partner with BCTM in reaching hurting souls with the hope of Christ. We invite you to join us prayerfully and financially as we labor together.
